Uganda Airline’s Two Bombardier CRJ900 planes arrive

The two  Bombardier CRJ900 planes that were ordered for touched down at Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday morning.

Many people were there to witness the arrival of these two planes, These included the President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni accompanied by the First Lady Janet Museveni, ministers, MPs and other dignitaries.

The panels received a water salute as a tradition to honor new airline services.

Before landing at Entebbe Airport, the two planes had several stopovers at airports that is to say; in Iceland, Netherlands and Aswan in Egypt.

Onboard each plane were four pilots:-

  • Two Ugandans and the other from Bombardier
  • Each plane also had a Ugandan engineer.

 

The Bombardier CRJ planes each cost $27.3m in Ugandan shillings it is estimated to be sh102b. Uganda Airlines will make flights to 26 destinations according to a member of the Uganda Airlines task committee. Some of the confirmed 19 regional and seven international routes are demand-driven.

The International flights are to;

  • London,
  • Amsterdam,
  • Bombay,
  • Dubai
  • Doha

The Regional routes will include;

  • Addis Ababa.(Ethiopia)
  • Kigali.(Rwanda)
  • Nairobi.(Kenya)
  • Dar-es-salaam.(Tanzania)
  • Lagos.(Nigeria)
  • Goma.(Congo)
  • Bujumbura.(Burundi)
  • Johannesburg.(South Africa)
  • Harare (Zimbabwe) among others.
