Egypt Beat DR Congo 2 – 0: Africa Cup of Nation – Group A

Egypt, who last won the tournament in 2010 and lost in 2017 final, secured their second win in two matches to move on to six points and guarantee a top-two finish in Group A.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah then added a second with a powerful strike which guaranteed them a place in the knockout stages.

DR Congo hit the crossbar again in the 40th minute through Jonathan Bolingi’s header but all went in vain.

Having faced two defeats from two games, the Democratic Republic of Congo must now hope to defeat Zimbabwe and pave their way from the fourth place to the third place.

Egypt began their campaigns with a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe and will go through as group winners if they avoid defeat against second-placed Uganda on Sunday (30th /06/2019).
