CITY WIN BACK TO BACK PREMIER LEAGUE TITLES

On Sunday(12th/May/2019) afternoon, Manchester City has been crowned Premier League Champions for the second successive season and in doing so become the first Club to retain the title in over a decade.

They secured a 4-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion to finish the Premier League campaign on 98 points, which ensured that City was crowned 2018/2019 Premier League Champions on the final day of the season.

After Glenn Murray scoring Manchester City in the 27th minute(first Half), City returned back with massive goals from the prominent City players, Sergio Aguero(28th min), Aymeric Laporte(38th min), Riyadh Mahrez(63rd min), and lastly Ilkay Gundogan(72nd min) with a fantastic free kick.

It’s the first time a team has won back-to-back titles since Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United in 2009.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said:

“Congratulations to Manchester City. We tried everything to make it as difficult as possible but not difficult enough. I couldn’t be more proud of the boys.”

He went further and said:

“It’s clear we had to work hard and City too. Our target during the week was to get 97 points, we got that – that’s special. We want to write our own history and we did. Today feels not so good but we have plenty of time to prepare for an important game in three weeks.” – courtsey of youtube

Manchester City has broken the record at 14 games for the longest winning streak leading up to a title victory in Premier League history.

Moreso, with 98 points, second only to the total the Club achieved the previous season, City set a new Premier League record has been set for the number of points accumulated over a two-season period at 198, in which 201goals have been scored.

Fans are now waiting for the homecoming event and stage show, which will be hosted in front of the Colin Bell Stand at the Etihad Stadium.
